ParticipantCloud and Tifa approach the children differently, and I think they do it on purpose to make sure the kids get an all around feeling of care and safety.
Tifa plans the big things. Vacations, food and allergies, bus schedules, etc.
But Cloud fully contributes as a father figure. He helps with homework, in particular math and geography and history. He’s the one who tries to teach them the value of a gil. He takes Denzel on rides on the bike and then when Denzel wants to do sports like skateboarding or soccer, gets him the equipment and in particular safety gear.
Cloud reads to Marlene, but only in a serious boring tone BECAUSE she thinks it’s funny.
He’s the dad who says “shake it off” when one of them falls, because he knows if he freaks out then THEY will freak out.
But he super freaks out about the idea of other kids picking on his kids. Or even worse; someone has the kind of crush he had on Tifa on Denzel or Marlene!-

ParticipantI also think Cloud would be the calm one when one of the kids gets hurt! But a bit of a buffoon when it comes to more complicated things as the kids get older, like crushes and dating. I don’t necessarily see him as overprotective, but definitely way uncool and embarrassing (in a loveable way) for his poor teens.

ParticipantI like to think that their home and Seventh Heaven become THE place to hang out when the kids get a bit older. All the neighborhood kids in and out constantly, which Cloud both likes and finds overwhelming (he’s scared of teenagers, fair enough). I love the idea of Cloud being stuck in a somewhat central position in their Edge community because of Tifa/Seventh Heaven as well as the kids. After being an outsider as a kid in Nibelheim, I think it would make him both happy and a little confused/bewildered by it all.
