When Cloud awakens, he finds himself among his companions and children who’ve been freed from their deadly disease (82). His family is there waiting for him: Tifa, Marlene, and Denzel, who asks to be cleansed of Geostigma by Cloud’s hands (83). Surrounded by blessings, Cloud realizes this is the place where he’s meant to live. At least he knows he’s forgiven himself.
Turning around, he sees “her” as she’s about to depart (84, 85) along with the friend who gave his life for Cloud’s. Cloud can now go on without suffering in solitude–therefore, they, too, can return to the place where they belong…
…to the flow of life that circles the planet.”
It’s a good conclusion, and I like that it recognizes his family.
